How do I USE this site?
The Long Island Index has been providing data on key issues impacting the future of our region for many years. Now we have made it easier to search for the specific facts you want from our reports as well as to share them via email, Facebook, or any other social media site. We have also gone one step further, and made it easier to compose the facts, figures, charts, survey findings into an infographic that could be used for any purpose from a community meeting to a school report to a discussion with friends.
To get started, choose one of the options below.

Share specific facts, charts, maps and more
- Run a search to find the specific facts, charts or maps you need
- Select the items you want and download to your computer or share via social media
Search for information, save your results and return later
You can search for information today, save your results in “My Portfolio” and then return later to retrieve your data. When you are ready to retrieve your data, you can organize the specific pieces of information you need into a “Group” which can then be downloaded to your computer.
To save your results you must first Register for a portfolio. Then,
- Run a search to find the specific facts, charts and maps you need
- Check the specific items and save to your portfolio
